a ‘quiet’ garden?

May 30, 2025May 30, 2025 by Breathing Space Coventry

How does that noisy road fit with

your ‘quiet garden’?

Yes, an occasional question for us.

Our experience is that the background noise and activity of the nearby double carriageway helps us to practise the reality of life – we get to hold peace, appreciate beauty, enjoy solitude and silence in the midst of the busy-ness of life around us.

Listen to the long stillness
New life is stirring
New dreams are on the wing
New hopes are being readied:
Humnankind is fashioning a new heart
Humankind is forging a new mind:
God is at work.
This is the season of Promise
.

-Howard Thurman

We make room for inner reflectiveness and stillness alongside outer distractions and constant noise.
