A wander through our rooms – in house and in garden – gives rise to beautiful contrasts: the full and busy … and then the empty and calm: from clear windowsill to full bookshelf; from clean-cut lawn to overflowing perennial border; from bits and bobs on a craft bench to a blank sand-tray; from a cluster of plants in pots to an expanse of reflective pond …
We’ve recently had a go at de-cluttering the greenhouse – and discovered many treasures! So much ‘junk’ was carefully left by previous users; grass seed, lengths of wire, broken pottery, sieves, chicken wire, sand, pebbles, a watering system, square, round, rectangle containers …
Like life really. So much busy-ness, relentless deadlines, stressful relationships … and then a breathing space.
And treasures emerge when we de-clutter. Buried things come to the surface. Resources we forgot we had become available. Corners that need cleaning, and broken things that need mending … Intentional time and inspirational space give perspective and do their wholesome work.
With God’s arrival comes Love.

Highlights from our AGM in May
. the inspiring series of creative workshops and quiet days last summer and autumn
. voluntary host-wardens keeping the Space open
. access to all free of charge, given generous donors (but the rise in heating costs is challenging)
. the enthusiastic team of volunteers in the garden
As one of our gardeners noted, ‘team work makes the dream work’! You can be part of the team and the dream: prompt your church group or charity to hold an ‘away day’ … set up a monthly or quarterly standing order donation … come yourself for silence, discernment, and refreshment … turn up on a Thursday for ‘team gardening’ …
